This Saturday, Madrid will be the capital of the world as the Santiago Bernabeu is the venue of El Clásico. Probably the biggest football rivalry in the world is the one between Real Madrid and Barcelona. However, this isn’t just about sport - El Clásico is something much, much bigger. On Saturday, we’re going to witness the making of history as two world’s most expensive clubs will clash for the 256th time.

Altogether, the players of Real Madrid and Barcelona are worth over 1,3 billion euros. The most expensive player on the world, Gareth Bale is one of the key players of Los Blancos, same as the world’s best player for the last year, Cristiano Ronaldo. In the visiting team, the key men are one of the best attackers of our era, Lionel Messi, Brazilian star Neymar, and the controversial goal getter, Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan is set to debut for Barça, after serving a 4-months suspension for biting a player at the World Cup 2014. Real Madrid humiliated his ex club, Liverpool, on Wednesday, which makes Suarez' motivation even stronger.

Both sides have been fabulous recently. Barcelona are topping the Primera table, while Real Madrid have been simply destroying their opponents in the previous couple of weeks. The games between these sides have always been thrilling and with a lot of goals. In the previous 16 duels of Real and Barça, both teams have scored in each game. It would be disappointing if something similar didn’t happen on Saturday.

El Clásico is beyond plain sports rivalry. Nowadays, when Catalans are asking for an independence referendum, the things have been tense in Spain. The main pillar of Catalan national pride is Barcelona, while the symbol of united Spain is Real Madrid. The tension is always high on the stands and easily transfers to the pitch, so red cards are very common in El Clasicos. Last year, Ramos got sent off, while a year earlier, the same happened to Viktor Valdes. Having all of that in mind, it’s fair to say that there is no way a dull game is going to happen on Saturday.
