The Premier League keeps getting better and better with each round. This weekend we saw Chelsea and Southampton winning again, Liverpool losing to Newcastle, Arsenal getting in a proper form, etc. However, the biggest game this round was the Manchester Derby.

Newcastle 1 Liverpool 0

There’s something definitely wrong with Liverpool this season. The reason for their poor form might be the departure of Luis Suarez, long injury list, participating in the Champions League, or something else. But whatever the reason might be, they need to fix it as soon as possible.

This season, Newcastle have been in a rather poor form, which is why the win over Liverpool came as a nice surprise for their fans. Now, the Magpies are on the 12th spot, with just a point less than Liverpool. The man responsible for their success in this game is Ayoze Pérez, who kept his composure in front of Mignolet in 73'.

Manchester City 1 Manchester United 0

So much money was invested in these 2 clubs in the last couple of years that their clash just had to be an interesting one. The key moment of the first half happened in the 39’ when Chris Smalling picked up his second yellow on the match and left the Red Devils with 10 men on the field. Manchester City had a bit of trouble to score against their city-rivals. It happened in the 63’, when Sergio Aguero brought his team the 1-0 lead, which proved to be the final score.

Chelsea 2 QPR 1

Rather unexpectedly, Chelsea struggled to beat Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. The table leaders were massive favorites in this game, not just because of their brilliant form, but also for the fact the venue was the Stamford Bridge. However, the London Blues had problems until a penalty goal saved the day for them.

Chelsea got in the lead in the first half with a goal by Oscar. At that point, it seemed a lot of more Chelsea goals were about to come. However, half hour later in the game, QPR equalized. The scorer was Charlie Austin. After the equalizer, QPR went into an ultra-defense mode. Chelsea attacks paid off in 75’ when Eden Hazard got fouled inside the box and the ref awarded the Blues a penalty. The same player took the responsibility and brought Chelsea the win.

Everton 0 Swansea 0

Everton fans should be very disappointed about the outcome of this match, as their team had the ball in the possession for most of the game. The Toffees were attacking ferociously from the very beginning, but were unable to score. The total number of Everton goal attempts was 17, which is really huge number compared to 8 goal attempts of Swansea. Another thing for which Everton feel sorry about is the fact that the Swans played without one player on the pitch after Jonjo Shelvey got sent off. Still, the 10-men Swansea managed to keep their net intact.

Hull 0 Southampton 1

Southampton were able to prolong their winning streak and remain on the 2nd spot. This time, they defeated Hull. Their performance wasn’t as impressive as some earlier ones, but still, they managed to take all 3 points. Vincent Wanyama deserves all the praise as he brought them the victory by scoring in the opening minutes of the match.

Arsenal 3 Burnley 0

Arsenal continued their good form and won another Premier League game. This time they defeated Burnley, but it wasn’t as easy as the final score might suggest. At the half time, the result was 0-0, but in the 2nd half, Alexis Sanchez took the things in his hands (legs, actually) and scored 2 goals, the game opener in 70’ and in the 1st minute of the stoppage time. Calum Chambers was the other scorer, who scored his first Premier League goal of the career, in 72’.

Stoke 2 West Ham 2

West Ham dropped to the 5th spot after this round as they played draw with Stoke in an away game. It was a pretty interesting duel, which wrecked the nerves of many bettors. The result at the half time was 1-0 Stoke after the Nigerian fast-paced attacker, Victor Moses brought the Potter the lead.

West Ham tried their best to get a goal early in the 2nd half, but the things got even worse for them in the 56’, when Mama Diouf made it 2-0 Stoke. However, a big surprise followed a few minutes later. First in 60’, Ener Valencia scored for West Ham after an assist by Stuart Downing. 13 minutes later, these 2 swapped roles – Valencia assisted Downing for the equalizer.

The Rest

Leicester City lost to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, thus dropping to the relegation zone. Aston Villa’s disastrous run continued with the defeat to Tottenham, although it was a close game. The Villans had the 1-0 lead until the 84’ minute when Chadli scored the equalizer and a few minutes later, Kane brought the victory to the Spurs.

On Monday, Sunderland grabbed their 2nd win of the season. This time, they beat Crystal Palace, their direct rivals for staying in the Premier League.

Next Weekend

The round opener is the biggest game of the day, the clash between Liverpool and Chelsea at the Anfield. The same day, Southampton will try to make their form even better, with a win over Leicester City.

On Sunday, the most interesting match seems to be the duel between Swansea and Arsenal, which is going to be played in Wales, where the Swans have always been dangerous.
