Week after week, Chelsea are coming closer to achieving the dream of winning the Premier League title again. The previous weekend, they were once again victorious, which is something they’ve gotten us used to, but the surprise is, almost every of their title rivals failed to win.

Liverpool 1 Chelsea 2

After this defeat, Liverpool dropped to the eleventh spot. It seems that they now have no chance for winning the title. However, their worries don’t end there. Liverpool are in a poor form and this is their 2nd Premier League defeat in a row, which is too much for the side of this quality and reputation.

The match started well for Liverpool. They got in the led in the 9’ with the goal by the newbie, Emre Can. However, just 5 minutes later, Gary Cahill equalized, making his team take over the initiative. At half time, the result was 1-1, but the 2nd half saw Chelsea best striker, Diego Costa, bringing his team the victory with a goal in 67’.

Southampton 2 Leicester 0

The biggest surprise of the season, Southampton managed to stay on the 2nd spot after the weekend. This time, they won against Leicester City. The visitors are among the biggest candidates for relegation, which is why the Soton win isn’t surprising. Still, handling such pressure deserves a lot of respect.

Shane Long was the hero of the Saints in this match. He scored both goals – the first in 75’ and the second, five minutes later. After this win, Soton are safe on the 2nd spot, with 4 points more than Manchester City, who are on the 3rd place. Southampton can even compete for the title as Chelsea have 4 points more. However, hard times are coming for Soton as after the New Year, they’ll play a few extremely tough games.

QPR 2 Manchester City 2

The reigning team of the English Premier League, Manchester City, haven’t been too impressive this season. They are very high on the table, but that isn’t enough to surpass such hard competition. If they want to compete for the trophy, the Citizens must not let failures like this one happen again. On Saturday, they failed to win against QPR, one of the most serious candidates for relegation.

Austin brought the Rangers the lead in the 21’, but Sergio Aguero equalized 9 minutes later. 1-1 was the result at the half time. For the most of the second part, Manchester City were dominating, but in 76’ a shock happened. Martin Demichelis put the ball past his own keeper, making it 2-1 QPR. Luckily for the Manchester Blues, they had the in-form Sergio Aguero in their squad, who equalized in 83’.

West Ham 0 Aston Villa 0

The Hammers are flying high at the moment. They are on the 4th spot, with just 3 points less than Manchester City. They’ve been in a wonderful form lately, but that didn’t help them to grab all 3 points from the Aston Villa duel, last Saturday. Although, West Ham were attacking the whole game, Aston Villa’s goalie Brad Guzan managed to keep a clean sheet.

Manchester United 1 Crystal Palace

It’s not a surprise the Red Devils won against Crystal Palace at the Old Trafford, the surprise is such small difference. Man Utd are a class better team than Crystal Palace and much, much more expensive than them. Instead dominating the league, this team hasn’t been playing well this season. Manchester Utd totally dominated the game, but their attackers failed to score in the first half. The savior of the Red Devils was Juan Mata, who set the final score 1-0 Manchester United, in the 67’.

Swansea 2 Arsenal 1

Before the season started, the Gunners were marked as one of the potential title favorites. They have been doing fine this season, but it seems they have no chance of overtaking the top spot from their city-rivals Chelsea, especially knowing that there are lots of other teams with the same intention. Arsenal are now at the 6th spot, but could’ve been better if they didn’t lose to Swansea on Sunday.

Arsenal went to Wales determined to grab a win and after the hour of play, it seemed they were on a good road. Alexis Sanchez was, once again, the key Arsenal player. He brought them the lead in the 63’. However, in 75’ and 78’, Sigurdsson and Gomis shocked the Gunners and brought a big victory to the Swans. After this weekend, Swansea are occupying the 5th place on the table.

The Rest

On Saturday, Burnley won against Hull City, but the win didn’t move them from the bottom of the table. The day after, Tottenham lost to Stoke at home. This was a bit of a shocker, but the Spurs have been in a rather poor form this whole season.

Newcastle have finally gone into a winning streak. The Pardew out campaign on the stands has totally stopped as the Magpies are now on the 8th spot. On Sunday, they won against WBA, in an away game, which is the 4th consecutive Premier League for Newcastle.

Next Round

After a week break, the Premier League returns on 22nd November. The biggest duel of the round is going to be the clash between Arsenal and Manchester United, while Chelsea will try to get further away from the rivals by beating WBA, the same day. Two days later, Southampton will take on Aston Villa, in Birmingham.
